AGDA_ScottLudlum_BLOG.jpgThe WA branch of the Australian Graphic Design Association is hosting two fantastic events this month.

Wednesday, March 12: Design for Change, presented by Senator Scott Ludlam (WA)

AGDA WA is thrilled to invite you to an inspiring presentation and Q&A by Scott Ludlam, Australian Greens Senator for Western Australia and former graphic designer, web developer and filmmaker on designing for change. Scott will also discuss the responsibility that designers hold and the future for the design industry in Perth.

This is a brilliant opportunity to gain a new perspective on design and the future of our city. As a former designer, Scott created the Bike Blackspot App, a smart phone application that enabled bicyclists to lobby for better bike funding. In 2007, he created a compelling documentary, ‘Climate of Hope’ on why nuclear energy is not the solution to climate change.

Tuesday, March 18: ONEAGDA Brand Launch

Come and celebrate the launch of ONE AGDA in WA!

Last year our members voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new constitution for AGDA. This means that while we’re keeping our ‘not for profit’ status, we’re making a lot of changes to the way we do things. We’re teaming up with world-class partners like D&AD and AIGA. Making our website easier to use, exploring the idea of design accreditation and looking at how we can make the Awards better and membership more meaningful. But probably the biggest news of all is that we’re moving from a state based structure to one national organisation. Meaning we can finally do what we’re really here for – to support, connect, educate and co-create; and show the world what Australian design can do.

To celebrate our new beginning as ONE AGDA we’re having a party. And we’d love you to come along, have a drink and see what’s changing. And if you’ve been thinking of becoming a member, we’ll be waiving the joining fee on the night.
