Seven’s mini-series, INXS: Never Tear Us Apart tops Perth ratings figures last night

The premiere of Seven’s mini-series, INXS: Never Tear Us Apart, topped the Perth ratings last night with 246,000 viewers. Network Nine’s Schapelle came in at number five locally with 118,000 viewers. Overall Perth ratings figures for last night saw Seven record 32.8% against Nine’s 19.1%.

Nationally it was the same story with the story of INXS recording 1,974,000 viewers against 1,022,000 for the story of Schapelle Corby.

Seven’s Director of Network Production, Brad Lyons, said: “We are rapt that good local production got the audience it deserved. We couldn’t be prouder.”

Seven’s Director of Network Programming, Angus Ross, said: “It’s all about planning, planning and planning. We put our stake in the ground with INXS for Sunday some time ago as we were confident that Shine and Seven Productions had delivered the TV drama event of 2014. Our promos, publicity and marketing teams have been relentless in their push toward last night and should be congratulated.”

Part Two of Never Tear Us Apart is on this Sunday at 8.30pm. Never Tear Us Apart is Executive Produced by Mark Fennessy, Rory Callaghan and Seven’s Julie McGauran, with the band’s manager CM Murphy and Tim Farriss as Co-Executive Producers and Kerrie Mainwaring and Andrew Prowse as Producers. The series is Co-Produced and Directed by Daina Reid and Written by Dave Warner and Justin Monjo.

The series stars Luke Arnold as Michael Hutchence, Ido Drent as Jon Farriss, Damon Herriman as CM Murphy, Nick Masters as Tim Farriss, Andy Ryan as Andrew Farriss, Hugh Sheridan as Garry Gary Beers and Alex Williams as Kirk Pengilly, with Georgina Haig as Paula Yates, Jane Harber as Michele, Samantha Jade as Kylie Minogue and Mallory Jansen as Helena Christensen.

For their part Nine will be following on from Schapelle with a special NINE News special presentation tonight at 8.40pm – Schapelle: Finally Free. After nine years in the notorious Kerobokan jail, Schapelle Corby was released on parole today, under strict conditions that will see her remain on the Indonesian island until 2017.
