Who says retail has to be boring?
SHEDcsc has created a topical press campaign for Liquor Barons promoting its range of French champagne to coincide with the Tour de France : “If cycling is the ‘new golf’ then this is your chance to win the ultimate cart!”
It has been running as full pages in The West Australian.

Nice work, Andrew, did you do the design work as well? Would love to know who worked on that.
One pun doesn’t make an ad any less boring though.
Is this really showcase work? We’ll be seeing Coles vouchers up soon.
A retail ad with an idea in it as opposed to a star burst, how refreshing! Nicely art directed too.
Ummm… You spelt specialised wrong.
Really? A retail ad that doesn’t wash through you like a bout of starbursting gastro. Well done , fellas
Josh,
You obviously don’t know your bicycle brands…
Back on your bike ….
Josh ‘Specialized’ is a brand – nice try though.
Did you keep the bike from the shoot Drew? Will we see you on the roads soon?
Is it a specialised ‘Specialized’?
Ross. Not unless you’re up in the Pilbara, halfway between Wodjina and McPhee Creek.
I can’t understand why the first line brings up golf. A bike is a bike and anyone interested enough to enter a competition to win one will surely aspire to the real thing, not begin by considering it within the context of a completely different sport. The rest of the ad makes no reference to this artifice, so it is hard to see what possible role it has within the overall communication. Was the target audience ex-golfing cyclists. It’s not even as if the comparison is accurate; a golf cart transports you from hole to hole to participate in your sport. Riding a bike is the sport itself.
Yeah, I think we know what they are trying to say – ie. that there was a time when golf was a popular sport to ‘socialise/do business’ around, now it’s cycling. But what has that got to do with the Tour de France? Oh well, as they say, a bird in the hand is worth a rolling stone gathering no moss.
