Soundbyte’s Brad Habib buys Double G from Gibsons and says it’s “business as normal” from April 1

Soundbyte partner Brad Habib (left) has reached an agreement to purchase Double G’s business and will take over as of April 1. The business will be run by Habib’s brother Grady, with whom he has partnered in the new venture.

Double Gs founders, Luke and Drew Gibson, announced just last week that they would close the business on March 31.

The Habibs’ takeover will come as welcome news for many agencies and production companies who have many years of masters and archives stored with Double G.

In an email to Perth creatives and producers yesterday, Habib said it is business as normal and all masters and archives were safe.

“Our aim for this new venture is to be a bit different and focus on how to get the best results by developing a unique environment where creativity is king and let’s face it, bring back the fun of the 80s!”

“Grady brings an amazing ability to consistency deliver, loves thinking outside of the box and is always up for a drink and a laugh. Grady and I are currently holding discussions with a number of amazing artists and we will keep you informed as the team forms. At this stage we can confirm that Jaemie [Manners] and Clint [Logan] are on-board to be part of that team.”

Habib said they would operate from Double G’s current Leederville premises until a new home was found.

Habib actually worked at Double G as the in-house sound engineer for before starting Soundbyte Studios with Julian Douglas-Smith.
