Brightest minds in digital media descend on Perth this Friday for X|Media|Lab

Successful X|Media|Lab project teams announced
A multiplatform game that uses hip-hop music to encourage kids to eat more vegetables, a digital collaboration system for musicians and a TV series matching charming Cantonese chefs with Australian winemakers have all been named among the sixteen successful projects to participate in XML Perth this weekend.
“With over ninety project submissionsreceived, we are thrilled at the outstanding calibre of creative participantsfor X|Media|Lab Perth. We have project teams travelling from all corners including Fremantle, Broome, Margaret River, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, NewZealand and the USA,” said Megan Elliott, Director X|Media|Lab.
“Our sixteen successful lab participants willhave two days of unparalleled access to the most intelligent global mediacreatives, receiving invaluable one-on-one mentoring, elite consultation,expert feedback and advice tailored to the needs of their specific projects.”
Other projects selected for the lab include astrategy game that uses Google Maps to simulate a zombie outbreak in your ownbackyard, a 360d degree virtual museum for a local council to exhibit itsartefacts to global audiences and a digital animation project documenting thehuman journey to Mars.
Fitting with the conference theme, Storytelling in a Digital Age, projectteams will workshop their ideas with the top names in global media includingthe BBC’s digital media expert Rosie Allimonos, world-renowned mobile mediaguru, Emma Kaye and global entertainment specialist Peter Shiao.
Following a full day conference and two daysof intimate lab workshops, the team of international mentors will select up tothree digital media projects to receive development awards of up to $20,000each. Projects eligible for the grants must include at least one West Australian media practitioner in the team.
