TVW-7 won the weekoverall (0600-2400) for Total People with a commercial share of 31.1%, followedby NEW-10 with 22.0%, STW-9 – 19.8%, Eleven – 5.3%, 7TWO – 5.2%, GO! – 5.1%, 7Mate – 5.1%, Gem – 4.6% and ONE with 1.7%.
The top performing programme for the week was TVW-7’s Packed to The Rafters with an average audience of 210,000 viewerslocally and 1.75 million nationally against Total People. Seven News dominated, and Today Tonight, My Kitchen Rules, Monday Bones, Criminal Minds and The Force – Behind the Line all appeared in the top fifteen. Although My Kitchen Rules has been consistently in the top five for all our demographics, the audience numbers have decreased week on week. The pull of news programming in the aftermath of the Christchurch Earthquake could account for the decl
ine. Grey’s Anatomy increased audience by 8,000 against Total People from the previous week and The Force – Behind the Line lost 10,000 viewers.
60 Minutes was STW-9’s top performing programme for the week against Total People with Monday’s Two and Half Men, The Farmer wants a Wife, Big Bang Theory and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation all making the top fifty programmes. The Famer wants a Wife ranked in the top five nationally against Total People and took fifteenth position locally against People 18-39.
NCIS was NEW-10’s top programme reaching an average of 158,000 viewers, followed by Bondi Rescue with 153,000 and Modern Family with 138,000 viewers. Hawaii Five-O’s audience grew by 4,000 week onweek against Total People and by 16,000 against People 18-39.
The top five positions in the day time segment were dominated by Ten News at Five with Nine News: First at Five taking sixth position.

RADIO – Survey #1
Following is a snap shotof the Eastern States market.
Sydney
- 2GB increased 1.8% sharepoints and remains the number station with All People 10+. Their shareincreased against People 25-39, 55-64 and 65+.
- 2DAY gained 0.3% totalshare points and enjoyed increases across all demos with the exception ofPeople 40-54. With the exception of Morning all other day parts had a smallincrease. Interestingly the departure of Hamish and Andy from the drive segmentonly saw a 0.8% drop in share.
- WSFM share remained thesame for Total People. Increases were with People25-39 and65+ and losses werewith People 10-17, 40-54 and 55-64. Breakfast and Drive showed small increases.
- MIXFM audience share increased by 1.3% with All People 10+ and with People18-24, 25-39, 40-54 and 55-64. They increased share across all day parts except7.00pm-midnight.
- Nova 96.9 decreased shareby 1.6% with People 10+. People 18-24 were down by 6% and 25-39 by 5.2%. Theyincreased share with People 40-54 by 0.8%.
- 2MMM lost 0.6% share withAll People and all other demos were down except People 55-64 (1.3%). With theexception of 7.00pm-midnight where they had a small increase, all other dayparts decreased slightly.
- Classic Rock 95.3 dropped0.3% over all. They increased share with People 18-24 (2.0%) and 40-54 (1.9%).
Melbourne
- 3AW (talkback station)decreased overall share by 0.4% but remain in their number one position. Theyincreased share with the 10-17, 25-39, 65+ and with the 55-64 segmentincreasing by 3.1%.
- FOXFM increased shareacross all our demos except People 18-24 and 40-54. They increased share acrossBreakfast, Morning and Afternoon, and suffered losses in Drive and7.00pm-midnight. Melbourne was the most affected by Hamish and Andy’s departure;as a result the Drive segment saw a big drop of 5.4% share.
- 3MMM had a slightincrease with All People of 0.3% and a healthy increase with People 25-39 of2.4%. They had gained share across all day parts.
- GOLDFM were down by 1.1%overall. They enjoyed increases with People 18-24 (3.7%), 55-64 and 65+. Allday parts declined.
- Nova 100 lost shareacross all the demos except People 25-39 (4.0%). They increased across all dayparts except Breakfast.
- Mix 101.1 dropped 0.2%share overall. They increased share points with People 18-24, 40-54 and 65+.All day parts were down except for Drive.
- Classic Rock 91.5 was up0.4% with People 10+. They lost share in Breakfast and Morning.
Brisbane
- Brisbane Survey #1 was cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.
Adelaide
- 5AAA (Talkback) lost 2.0% share which resulted in them losing the number one mantle. The only demos to increase share were People 18-24 and 65+.
- MIX102.3 gained 2.4% share pushing them into top spot with People 10+. Increases in share occurred with People 25-39, 40-54 and 55-64. All day parts gained share.
- SAFM gained share overall (0.8%) and across all demos except People 25-39. Afternoon and Drive declined. The departure of Hamish and Andy from the Drive segment had little effect with only a 0.1% decrease.
- Nova increased share by 0.4% overall. People 10-17, 18-24, 55-64 and 65+ increased share. They gained slightly in Morning, Afternoon and Drive.
- 5MMM was up 0.4% overall. People 10-17, 25-39 and 40-54 increased share. Of the day parts, Breakfast and 7.00pm-Midnight experienced negative results.
INTERNATIONAL AD FORECAST
This forecast predicts the average expansion across seven main media in the world’s 12 biggest markets. Spending figures apply to TV, newspapers, magazines, the web, outdoor, radio and cinema, and include display and classified advertising. All expendituretotals exclude production costs. They are estimating an increase of 4.6% in 2011.Emerging economies and the continued rise of the internet – growing more thantwice as fast as any other mainstream medium this year – are set to be the twoprimary drivers.
Of the countries included in the analysis, the following is predicted:
• India is anticipated to return the greatest increase improving by 18.5% in 2011.
• Russia is second,anticipating an 11% increase.
• China is looking at a12.5% surge.
• Brazil could increase 11%.
• In the US, a moreconservative 3.5%.
• Japan is projecting a 1.2% growth.
• Italy sees a 3.4% jumpthis year.
• Germany experiences a3.3% lift.
• The UK and France both toclimb 2.8%.
Online advertising ispredicted to grow by 12.7% across the 12 markets analysed, an improvement of 4.8%for outdoor and television, 4.6% for cinema, and 4.4% for radio. Newspapers are predicted to register a 0.8% decline and magazines a 0.4%decrease.
Warner Brothers is testing an innovative online distribution model by making one of its films-The Dark Knight – available to rent via Facebook, nbsp;Viewers will be able to pay the $3 fee with 30 Credits, Facebook’s virtual currency, which is already used on 400 games and applications.
HAVAS SPORTS ANDENTERTAINMENT SURVEY
This survey was comprised of 2,264 people aged between 12 and 35 years of age from France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. The individuals in the survey were all predicted to form a “core consumer segment” in the sport market in ten years time.
Overall, 72% of respondents kept up with their favourite team and relevant events once a day or more, and 80% of this audience employed television to do so. Looking ahead, 58.4% of the panel said HDTV was the medium most likely to enhance the viewing experience, with internet TV delivering 51.9%, on-demand yielding 41.3% and 3DTV reaching 39.2%. Mobile technology secured 31%, digital radio posted 13.9% and indoor projectors brought up the re
ar, on 11.7%.
