TVW-7 won the week overall (0600-2400) for Total People with acommercial share of 41.9%, followed by STW-9 with 29.5% and NEW-10 with28.6%.

The previous week’s episode of Packed to The Rafters – MelRafters Funeral – attracted an average 2.4 million viewers nationally,and 298,000 locally. Although losing 21,000 this week, the programmestill remains the number one show for Total People. Other programmes inthe top fifteen included News, Today Tonight, Bones, The Force – Behindthe Line, Beauty and The Geek, Sunday Night and Border Security -Australia’s Front Line. Bones performed exceptionally well with anaverage of 187,000 viewers locally, and averaged over 1.4 millionnationally.

STW-9 had three programmes in the top thirty against TotalPeople which included The Block, Monday’s Two and Half Men – Episode 1and The Big Bang Theory – Episode 1. The Block returned this week aftera one week hiatus due the One Day Cricket.

Junior Masterchef Australia(Sunday) was the most watched programme on NEW-10 across all of ourdemographics with an average audience of 184,000 viewers locallyagainst Total People, an increase of 15,000 week on week. Nationally itreached 1.4 million, an increase of 6% week on week. Other programmesin the top thirty were Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation, NCIS, Keeping upwith The Joneses and Under Cover Boss Australia. The 24th Annual AriaMusic Awards did not impress viewers with Sunday night’s performancenot even making the top fifty programmes.

The top seven shows in thedaytime segment were dominated by Ten News at Five with Wednesday’sbroadcast reaching an average audience of 121,000 viewers.

ABC CIRCULATION RESULTS 

Newspapers have suffered a widespread drop in circulation andreadership, with only a handful of publications reporting increases.The Australian’s Monday to Friday edition and The Daily Telegraph’sSaturday paper were the only newspapers to experience an increase insales, growing 1.62%. Other circulation results were as follows:

  • The Sunday Times dropped 7.39%
  • The Saturday West Australian saw a drop of 4.20% and Monday to Friday edition of 1.53%
  • The Sydney Morning Herald’s Monday to Friday editions slipped by 1.82% and Saturday by 4.66%
  • The Sun Herald fell by 4.19%
  • The Saturday Daily Telegraph increased by 1.90% while the Monday to Friday edition dropped by 1.73%
  • The Sunday Telegraph fell by 0.64%
  • Saturday’s Herald Sun dropped by 1.86% and Monday to Friday edition by 3.41%
  • Sunday Herald Sun fell by 3.07%
  • The Melbourne Age Monday to Friday editions decreased by 5.33% and Saturday edition by 3.80%
  • The Sunday Age fell by 0.09%
  • The Brisbane Courier Mail Saturday edition dropped by 5.45% and Monday to Friday edition by 4.83%
  • The Brisbane Sunday Mail fell by 5.73%
  • Saturday’s Adelaide Advertiser decreased by 3.41% and Monday to Friday edition by 3.14%
  • The Sunday Mail (SA) fell by 3.79%
  • AFR (Sat) went down 7.06% (their online paid subscription modelincreased) and the Monday to Friday edition saw a drop of 4.88%.
  • The Australian (Monday to Friday) increased by 1.62%

WEEKLY MAGAZINE ABC RESULTS

The circulation and readership of weekly magazines has also decreasedoverall by 7.66% according to the latest Audit Bureau of Circulations(ABC) report.

• Famous was the only  weekly magazine to record an increase – up 6.43%

• Grazia was the worst hit suffering a decrease of 17.63%

• OK! Decreased by 15.16%.

• TV Week dropped12.73%

• Zoo decreased 11.73%

• Picture dropped 10.43%

In terms of readership, the sports, home & garden, and health &family categories, reported the biggest year-on-year increases.

• Home & Garden was up 8.8% year-on-year

• Health & Family rose 14.1%

• Men’s Fitness up 26.5%,

• GQ up 23.5% and

• Men’s Style up 22.8%.

Among the female categories, mass women’s was up 0.2% year-on-year withWomen’s Weekly the only title to report an increase. Women’s fashionwas also down by 1.2% year-on-year.
