It’s a crying shame we don’t have decent television production budgets in Perth

Apparently, to win a big international creative award in TV you need to have a big budget. One of CB’s favourite commercials from this year’s Cannes Advertising Festival is this spot from Argentina. It won a Gold Lion.

Love it.
On the topic, still one of my favourite low budget/highly awarded spots from last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_TKASmKUbw
Martin, the other thing you need to make great TV is a client willing to do something amazing and different.
90% of Perth TV ads have no ‘decent’ budget, but 99% of ads are for clients not brave enough to do something original.
Maybe we need to do more cheap scams like this…
The exception that proves the rule?
Actor: It can’t be true!
It can’t be true!
VO: Action
Now put the phone down……
VO: Remembr we are been Perth’s
number one this year
Nice!
That IKEA crossword won lot’s of awards
And we came second in this years CAXTON awards
Actor: It can’t be true!
It can’t be true!
Hey Josh, here’s my two all-time favourite low budget spots. Both of them blew me away when I first saw them on the night in Cannes.
This one got a Gold in 1999 – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2erWr8Qbnss
This one only got a Silver (it was robbed) in 2006 – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZCW8X9QBL4&feature=related
Whenever creatives go on about how they can’t do great TV because they never get decent budgets I always refer to them.
Yep Kim.
damn.
Touché, CB. It’s true what they say – money can’t buy brilliance or talent. Look at the film world – some of the biggest-budget, highest-production-value, latest-technology movies turn out to be crap simply because they have a weak (or even nonexistent) storyline.
Awesome
