First Light Digital up and running again after devastating fire at Carr Street premises
The industry was shocked last week to hear post-production house First Light Digital had been the victim of an arson attack. It appears the arsonist/s smashed through the front doors and poured some kind of accelerant in the reception area before setting it alight. Most of the serious damage was confined to the reception area, where two hard drives were located. The storage area wasn’t damaged directly by the fire but the tapes and disks have been sent out for cleaning and deodorising from the smoke.
Managing editor Bruce Flint and senior editor Matt Osborne are currently operating from Whizz Digital’s premises at 6 Abbotsford Street in West Leederville. Flint said Whizz Digital’s David Moran had been extremely accommodating in assisting them get operational again.
“Unfortunately our colour balanced monitors were damaged by heat so we can’t do grades at present but we are up and running with our regular offline work as usual.”
They can be contacted on their regular office number of 9227 1152 or emails bruce@firstlightdigital.com and matt@firstlightdigital.com. The fire is the subject of an investigation.
