Always keep watch around water

Every year another few toddlers or young children drown in WesternAustralia . For the child it might be over in a matter of seconds. Theparents however, aren’t so lucky. The brief for 303 Perth was to remindparents to keep watch around water, and in doing so, avoid a lifetimeof pain. Directed by 303’s Richard Berney via Split Screen.

Great ad. Has broken new ground. Well done to all involved.
Nice idea. Will surely get some metal next year.
Beautifully shot.
But what is it with a teddy bear in communications about children? This visual cliche compromises the spot – message would have been more salient, and overall commercial could have worked, so much more effectively without it.
8.51pm. Are you serious. The Teddy bear was the highlight.
Stupid comment about the Teddy bear. Time for bed 8.51pm.
Very unPerth looking. Was it shot in Sydney?
It was shot in Perth. We shot wherever a dodgy pool came up- there was a few in the hills, one in Coolbinia, another in Ocean Reef.
All the pools were shot during magic hour (this made all the difference), and there was a really light touch with the grade just to even them all up – some shots are virtually ungraded.
We had the luxury of some time on this job, so as locations came up we shot them during the best time of day.
Also, it was shot on the 5D (just because someone owned one) which was great for this because there’s limited movement. Wouldn’t recommend it for anything but gently moving landscapes.
Oh, I thought it was a new spot for HBF.
6.14pm.
No, it’s far too upbeat.
Jesus 10:26 you got anymore information for us? I’m not quite asleep yet.
There’s a magical little moment for me – the second shot actually looks like a planet amongst stars in deep space – have a look – i thought it was a comment about death and souls and everybody has a star type of thing…
So for me, yes, nicely shot…but the idea?….well….I’ve heard of a mother leaving the bedroom left untouched, but the backyard death scene years on? With a teddy bear floating in the pool as a convenient and rather brutal reminder…huh? Do you really think so? Grief does strange things to people I suppose, but leaving a deep drop to shallow water for the next unsuspecting child is a little unlikely to my mind. And yes, there’s something not quite right about the bear…, a nice metaphor possibly… but if Mum’s still got that set-up all those years later then she needs the little white van with the men in the little white coats to come and take her away you don’t think? And if that’s the point I don’t believe it sorry. My vote? It’s the teddy bear that’s stupid, stupid.
10.26-
Sorry but I thought this blog would be good for craft discussion as well as theory-
there’s no other forum for it really.

7.14 you’re obviously not a parent and your comment on grief reveals an almost staggering lack of empathy. I hope that nobody who’s ever lost a child, in any circumstances, reads your post – they may come away feeling that you’re representative of the kind of people that work in the industry.
