Bain exits Marketforce for Meerkats
Marketforce Client Service Director Gavin Bain is leaving the agency to become managing director of Meerkats.
He is the latest of several senior staff departures from the agency this year, which has been one of its worst ever.
Campaign Brief understands Bain was offered an alternative position within Marketforce following recent account losses which have precipitated a restructure of the agency. However, he has taken up the MD position with the rapidly growing Meerkats.
Bain will take over responsibility for the account service functions at the agency from Mark Pinney, who has moved back into a media director role.

It’s like that scene in Retrn of the Jedi when darth vader returns to the good side.
Welcome back Darth Gavin
5:35…
Dude, you didn’t fully think through that simile: the “good side” in Star Wars is the Force.
How depressing for Marketforce – Gavin leaving is a real loss. I wish him all the best. I’m sure he’ll be snapped up in no time. Here’s hoping that Marketforce’s luck changes soon.
Well done Bainey!
You’ll do great no matter where you go.
Best of luck.
Well Done Gav…..Meerkats are the lucky ones!
Do or do not… there is no try

Who were the other ‘senior’ players to go this year?
The Lottery pitch should be interesting when it eventually hits!
Massive consequences.
You can take the man out of Marketforce. Let’s see how Meerkats get on with the next bit.
Gav – all the best. You’re a person who has the respect of the industry (including me) and am certain you will make a significant contribution in your next challenge.
Good luck.
Gav you are a top bloke and it has been a real pleasure working with you on many challenging and rewarding projects these past few years.
Good luck and may the Force be with you! (sorry mate, couldn’t help myself).
12.05 (am!!!). Thanks for proving once and for all that nothing intelligent is ever said in a sentence that starts with ‘Dude’.
When 300 years old you are, not so good you look.

Grey men, grey suits.
10.18 – Andrew who are making the decisions at MF It appears that they constantly let all the best staff leave?
Marketforce have had a turbulent year. They have let some very talented people walk over the last 18 months or so.
I think future employee prospects would be vet sceptical?
Hate to be critical but most of his major accounts have left. Do you really think he really had a future at MF?
If Marketforce were a Shakespearean tragedy, it would have just had its eyes gouged out and wandered madly across the moors. Looking forward to the dénouement.
There are a sh*tload of ex-MF people out there who tell you “you are lucky – its a great place”, ” I loved working there” etc etc. seeming to remember it with fondness.
I won’t. My experience there (as a more recent employee) is that it is a ruthless and harsh environment. Other agencies were not like this. I understand the economics, it is a tough time, but reckon the MF leaders are so desperate they have thrown their integrity out the window. Don’t count on loyalty or friendship if you work there. And if A. Tinning leaves, get out of there quickly, he the only one holding the place together.
Congratulations Gav!!! Go, you good thing..
Storm Trooper – Yes that’s right 30 years ago it must have been good. hasn’t been like that since Hey Hey its Saturday was in its prime. Its well due for a top end shake up. Isn’t it?
PS I think shi*tload is a bit generous on the numbers, you could probably count them on one hand.
Stormie, Dazza the bitterness will kill you.
Remove the light sabres from your ar#es and get some antidepressants.
Can somebody please tell me who the other senior people were. I am genuinely interested.
Ta.
Mike Mitchell – media, Richard Beards – suit, Franca Pellegrini – producton, Josh Bernard – Digital, Andrew Sculthorpe – suit, John Pallett – Design, plus about 30 not so seniors this year, how many do you want?
