No brain boost for Perth creatives?
Unless the PADC can round up a few more delegates for their annual Festival of Ideas over the next few days it is certain to be called off. Despite a change of venue to keep it fresh and a world class panel to keep it inspirational, it appears that tough economic times have once again taken their toll with many traditional supporters pulling out this year.
PADC President Andrew Tinning confirmed that they may be forced to cancel unless they get around 15 more people.
“The Club understands that we’ve all been through some tough times of late and we were expecting numbers to be a bit down,” said Tinning. “That’s why we decided on a shift of venue to keep it fresh and invited a panel who were not just world class individuals, but who had real relevance to the Western Australian Industry – with the majority having started their careers here). A lot of time and effort has gone into organising the event but at the end of the day if we don’t get more people then the numbers just don’t stack up. It would be a real shame to have to turn the lights off on the event this year as these sorts of opportunities are few here in W.A. I will make one last plea for support on behalf of the PADC and we will make a final call within the next few days.”

I was going to go and improve my creative skills but then I read Richard Clarke’s article and have decided I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I did . So I am going to stay at home and repeatedly poke a blunt stick in my eyes until the pain and the guilt of our loathsome profession goes away.
Surely the agencies can dip into their training / education budgets to send some of their staff along, that is what it’s there for isn’t it?
7:43 AM can I borrow that stick when you’re done with it? The Artline 0.4 currently at my disposal just isn’t cutting the mustard…
Put a fucking bar tab on and I’ll go….
hee hee you said cutting mustard.
I think quite a few creatives are going to a wedding (ex perth art director) that weekend so could account for about half a dozen or so who may normally go.
You really need a boost,
Or you’ll have a big round yellow head like me.
Don’t worry, the Festival is full steam ahead. A tally of late applications shows we are already at a healthy number. If you’re not one of them you’ll miss a good session.
Message from Andrew will no doubt follow.
Creatives love an overseas jolly. Move it back to Rotto and it will be booked up in no time.
Whose getting married? Congrats by the way…
