SIMON McQUOID NOW REPRESENTED IN AUSTRALIA BY REVOLVER

Simon on Halo Shoot.jpgSimon McQuoid, who is currently ranked number 3 director in the world,according to the latest Gunn Report, now has representation in Australia, New Zealand and Asia, via Sydney based production company joined Revolver.

A nativeAustralian, McQuoid (pictured in short sleeves on the Halo 3 shoot)began his career in Perth where he worked as an art director at agencies including AdLink DDB Needham and FCB Shorter. In 1995, he made the move to the US, where he workedhis way to a Group Creative Director position for TBWA/Chiat/Day in NewYork. In 2003, he transitioned into directing, and since this time, hehas won pretty much every award there is.  

In 2006, among a slewof awards, his spot for Drug Free America, ‘The Talk’, was selected tobe a part of the permanent collection in the Museum of Modern Art(MoMA) in New York. Most recently McQuoid’s X-Box Halo 3 launch films,picked up the coveted Film Grand Prix at Cannes, together with the FilmGrand Clio, a D&AD Gold Pencil, and several Gold One Show pencils.

SaysMcQuoid (who ic currently holidaying in Perth): “The thing that appealed to me about Revolver first andforemost was the body of work across many directors, which wasintelligent and well crafted, it had a sense of style as well assubstance. There was a high regard for the quality of the idea in thescripts and that is something that is very important to me. There wasan uncomplicated direct approach to the way they seem to go about theirbusiness, plus everyone I met there I just seemed to connect with, itjust felt right”.

Executive Producer of Revolver, Michael Ritchiesays: “Simon’s Grand Prix win at Cannes was such impressive work.  Iremember thinking that he nailed that stuff so well. Perfection.  Wewere introduced through a mutual friend in London, and it felt rightstraight away (to work together that is).  We are really incrediblyexcited to have him with us”.
