PADC AWARDS NIGHT
December 13 2008, 9:09 am | | 26 Comments
Over 400 people filled the ballroom at the Hyatt Hotel last night for the annual PADC Awards. Best of Show went to The Brand Agency and the West Fellowship trip was won by Marketforce. Over the 45 categories awarded on the night four Golds were handed out – two to The Brand Agency, one to Marketforce and one to student Kenny Mar – and a great time was had by all. Coverage of the winners will appear over the next day so in the meantime here are some of the photos from the Campaign Brief camera.

Great night. There were more than a few raised eyebrows about the judge’s TV choices, though.
Is it just me, or is Carrick totally hot!?
A great night.
4.17, it’s just you. Are there any hot older guys?
it’s just you 4.17
Awesome night but the best of show???
A point of clarification. There were five “gongs” handed out on the night: two to The Brand, two to Marketforce and while Curtin student Adstrid Boehm did well and scored a bronze for her entry the Gold went to Kenny Mar.
Liz. What was the second Marketforce Gold for?
Going on the results supplied to us, Brand got two (Galleria Toyota ‘Shakespeare’ & Enjo Kid’s Book). Marketforce got one (ORS ‘X-Ray Back’) and Student Kenny Mar also got one.
Didn’t Enjo get two? One early on in the evening in one of the Design Categories and then one as best of show?
Best of Show and the West Fellowship can’t be counted as Golds. They are their own separate gongs.
I’m really intrigued to see the Enjo book in the flesh. It must be great. Can the Brand please supply some detailed images for the blog so we can get a decent look at it. Better still, where can I get a hold of a copy? There must have been quite a few produced.
I had a really great time at the PADCAW ARDS. Shame about the kerning tho..
I know it was touched on during the evening, but it needs to be said as often as possible – Jeff, Liz and John Driscoll need to be thanked for all their effort in helping get the PADC back on its feet. I know that there were a bunch of people that helped out along the way, but really without these three then the club would have been history.
Hopefully the foundation that they have managed to create will be built upon by those that really benefit from the awards and they will pick up the torch going forward.
Anyway, back to the debate …
I think it is Carrick’s generous mane that makes the ladies giddy.

I called Enjo to see if I could get a copy of the book. Strangely enough the customer service person wasn’t aware of such a publication. Is it just a local Perth thing?
PRESENTER: “And the winer is…… …no no please don’t come up to the stage…….. just “give us a wave” at your table!
hmm thats a good head of hair indeed – batty
Apologies CB – you are right. Put it down to senility, late night, too much to drink, too much of everything really.
Not sure about the awards. Too long. Forget the book or that car ad as the best of show is surely the girl in the pink top!

For fucks sake. I’ve had enough of this shit.
I agree 10.26. It was so funny how the MC managed to confuse the entire Perth advertising industry about when to go upthe front to get an award. It prolly would have been easier not to confuse the issue and allow everyone their moment, but only allowthe Golden Brainers to speak. Just a thought. I never really appreciated the comment “a face for radio” until friday night 🙂
For the most part it was a good night, the host being the only real negative in my opinion. So on the whole a big well done to Liz, Jeff and their colleagues on the PADC Executive.
Other than the host’s ego, the judges’ desire to reward non-advertising, the foam-core mounting, the kerning on the W and the beer, it was a fantastic night.
It’s a good thing you didn’t have far to rise PADC.
I’m not sure it is appropriate to single out a couple of individuals for praise in getting this event off the ground. It was a team effort from a few people who were determined not to let it die. Everyone needs to understand that we can only continue if the industry supports the PADC – that means, as Mark so eloquently put it, “those who benefit from it.”. The harsh reality is that the sponsors and a few major agencies have underwritten the PADC awards in a big way – now it is your turn out there in ad land to get behind it. We will be having a review meeting shortly so please give any constructive feedback to a committee member. And thanks for coming along so close to Christmas.
Hey! Is it just me or does that Craig fella from the Brand look like Nick Cave. That dude is a real rock star I’m sure of it. Must spend bucket loads on that do.
Is it true that the PADCs have refused to let Ben Cousins stand for the 2009 Committee? Bit harsh.
