CAROLYN HALL LEAVES THE RAC

Carolyn Hall, one of Perth’s most high profile clients, has left the RAC. News broke late today that the RAC’s Brand and Communications Director had resigned. No other details were available at time of posting.
Hall joined the RAC in 2006 after working for seven years in New York with ad agency, McCann Erickson.

That’s a shame. The RAC ads were just getting better.
Hmmm. Interesting.
Rumours are, she’s going to MF.
Good luck Carolyn in whatever your next step is.
Why would she go to MF? She’s a brand specialist.
Interesting indeed. No doubt there’s more to this story – maybe all is not so “happy” at RAC.
Don’t know why the RAC wouldn’t be happy. Carolyn is leaving the company with a much more focussed marketing plan than when she joined.
Remember the ads The Brand were tossing out on this account a few years back? it was all over the place and most commercials had three end lines. I can’t even remember what they were.
Granted, she’s is probably not the easiest of clients to get along with, but the role she filled at the RAC was a difficult one.
Good work by Carolyn and all the marketing team at the RAC.
Campaign Brief are obviously doing a great job of moderating comments as my previous comment has not seen the light of day. So let me rephrase and see if it gets through Martin:
Carolyn is like vegemite. There are some people who like it. And some people, like me, who don’t.
3.43pm does make a good point. Carolyn has had a big impact in Perth and the RAC’s advertising was well below par before she arrived.

I agree with 5.24pm – on many counts. And yes, RAC’s advertising may well have been ‘below par’ before she arrived, but a lot of that is coincidence – there is a much bigger team often unseen at RAC who are the ones actually responsible for the great work over the last couple of years – along with The Brand Agency. Unfortunately, as Carolyn is such a large character, she is often credited with all of RAC’s successes – as someone who’s been on the inside, I can tell you that credit has been largely misdirected.
Martin I didnt realise you were such a fan of Ms Hall?? Seems you have been vetting comments all over in her defense. A shame that this blog is not about sharing differing points of view after all.
Unfortunately it seems that Carolyn’s positive contribution to the RAC was far outweighed by her inconsistent antics. Her greatest attribute however was spotting incredible talent – and that is more likely why the calibre of work was improving and I’m sure will continue to.
I love vegemite! on ya Carolyn!
7.09: I am sure that any decent marketing person realises that it just wasn’t Carolyn who was responsible for the marketing output over her 2.5 years there. Knowing Carolyn, when ever she was “congratulated” on the work she did, she quickly corrected that praise with it wasn’t her, it was the team she believed and relied upon (including The Brand Agency) that got RAC to where they are today. I personally think that the tall poppy syndrome is seriously at work here. That’s a sad thing given how much support she offered all that came across her path, including me.
Vetting of comments on all stories has been in place since day one. There are a lot of immature people out there who hide behind “Anonymous”. The rules of engagement are simple: Comments that are seen to be more abusive than witty and/or constructive will not be posted. To be honest, there have only been two comments that we have not posted on this particular thread. We have rejected far more on other stories.
And, yes, 8.15 for your information we like Carolyn. A lot.
If this blog has been closed, can you please let your readers know! It is rather unprofessional to have a blog and not allow people’s comments to be put up.
“Unprofessional”? I think we are actually being rather professional in ending this thread. Let’s all move on.
