The 2008 PADC Awards will be held at the Hyatt Perth Hotel on Friday, December 12. More details to follow in due course but mark that date in your diary now.

How can the PADC get it wrong every year? I mean, the middle of December! Smack back in the middle of work and family christmas functions and the rush of getting work completed before everyone shuts down for a week. How many people will not be able to make it once again??????
I reckon this date will never go ahead. Strange that an industry supposedly in touch with consumers can get it so very, very wrong. And why does it have to be a full five and a half months after the entries close. Can I hear funeral music?
PADC people, please reconsider, you probably won’t lose your deposit on (insert overpriced poncy venue here) so can it. Now. That date is ludicrous.
Just book out a pub one Friday night in late July and plaster the work all over the walls.
No bullshit choirs, comedians or crap video ‘concepts’. Just the work, the shmooze and booze.

I’M WITH YOU, 4.09… LAst year the event suffered cos it was on a thursday “cos that’s the only night the venue was available.” Well, fuck the venue. Have it somewhere informal. Like a pub. Or my place… reduce the ticket price. spend all your money on alcohol. get a few kegs… a pig on a spit… throw in a few topless waiters and waitresses and you’ve got yourself a PARTY! the kind of party it takes a year to recover from so we’re all ready and willing to do it again…
I assume you weren’t at the AGM in April 9:03, 8:32 and 4:09. Sadly, only 20% of members were. The format of the awards night was discussed and agreed then. I’m not saying you’re wrong, or right for that matter, but the AGM was the time and place to bring up these suggestions. Right now, a handful of dedicated people are working really hard to put on as good a night as they possibly can for you, so I reckon you should get behind them and the event. I think it’ll be a top night; a fantastic ‘end-of-year’ party for the industry as well as a celebration of the work. Give it a chance and if, after the show, you’re still not happy, come along to next year’s AGM and say your piece then (better still, nominate for the organising committee).
