Matildas’ FIFA Women’s World Cup opening match reaches 237,000 across WA

The Matildas’ opening match against Ireland in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 was a big hit with viewers. The match, which saw Australia’s Matildas triumph over Ireland 1-0 in front of a sold-out crowd of 76,000 at Stadium Australia in Sydney, reached an audience of 237,000 across WA.

The game was the #1 program across every key demo dominating its broadcast timeslot.

From 20 July to 20 August, 15 key matches in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 – including the two opening day matches, two Quarterfinals, both Semi-Finals and the Final, plus every Matildas game – will be seen on Seven, hosted by 7SPORT anchor Mel McLaughlin and broadcasting icon Bruce McAvaney.
